Deaf MinistryThere are many more profoundly Deaf people in India than many other countries. Their needs are many but are willing to learn new skills that will enable them to support themselves and their families. The sign they use is somewhat different to BSL but can soon be picked up. It has been noticed that some ASL users are trying to get Deaf Indian people to use ASL, presumably because the ASL users find it difficult to cope with another language. The ISL users however seem quite happy with their language and should cause no real problems for other sign users.
